Projet de recherche initié par Grégoire Chelkoff en mars 2020 au moment où la pandémie du Covid19 entrainait des confinements & des bouleversements dans la vie quotidienne d’une grande partie des habitants de la planète.

Le principe était d’inviter toutes les personnes s’intéressant à l’espace sonore, à enregistrer depuis leur fenêtre ou leur balcon, en simultané, un certain jour, à une heure précise, puis de compiler ces enregistrements sur le site Cartophonies.fr.

Au total une trentaine de personnes ont répondu à l’invitation & une centaine d’enregistrements ont été publiés.

La disparition inopinée de Grégoire en juillet 2025 nous a malheureusement privé des analyses & synthèses qu’il préparait alors.

Research project initiated by Grégoire Chelkoff in March 2020, at a time when the Covid-19 pandemic was causing lockdowns and disruptions to the daily lives of a large part of the world’s population.

The idea was to invite anyone interested in soundscapes to record from their window or balcony, simultaneously, on a specific day at a specific time, and then compile these recordings on the Cartophonies.fr website.

In total, around thirty people responded to the invitation and around a hundred recordings were published.

Grégoire’s unexpected death in July 2025 sadly deprived us of the analyses and summaries he was preparing at the time.
