Dans le cadre de la Nuit des idées 2024 de Chicago, l’installation visionnaire de Muoto « The Ball Theatre » quittera la Biennale de Venise pour se rendre sous une autre forme au Chicago Architecture Center en février 2024.
En plus des 150 enregistrements collectés pour la Biennale de Venise 2023, le public de Chicago – particuliers, les structures locales, les écoles et autres institutions- contribuera à ce projet. Les enregistrements seront sélectionnés par les coordinateurs du projet Radio Utopia, qui les chargeront ensuite sur les 40 haut-parleurs de l’installation.
Spécifications des contributions
Les propositions peuvent être de toute nature : créations, fictions, interviews, paysages sonores, archives, etc. Elles seront sélectionnées en fonction de leur qualité de production et de leur contenu en lien avec les thèmes proposés. Véritable laboratoire sonore le temps d’une soirée, le projet Ball Theatre/Radio Utopia nous permettra d’entendre comment le monde sonne. Par nouvelles du monde, nous entendons : nouvelles du lieu, de l’autre, du futur, du passé, de la fiction, des sphères…
- Chaque bande sonore ne doit pas dépasser 7 minutes. Format idéal wav, aiff – stéréo.
- Titre, un court texte d’introduction (500 caractères maximum) est requis.
- Auteur(s), une courte biographie (300 caractères maximum par auteur) est requise.

In light of Chicago’s 2024 Night of Ideas, Muoto‘s visionary installation “The Ball Theatre” will travel in another form, from The Venice Biennale to the Chicago Architecture Center in February. Installation will be composed of 40 microphone stands, each holding a suspended speaker. Speakers – held in hand or listened to on the stands – will be echoes to “World News” – “Nouvelles du monde“, in French. In addition to the 150 collected recordings that were gathered for the 2023 Venice Biennale, it is now time for the public in Chicago to contribute to this project. Individuals, local structures, schools, and other institutions are invited to contribute to this open call. Recordings will be selected and curated by Muoto/Radio Utopia project coordinators, who will then proceed to load the chosen recordings onto the installations’ 40 different speakers.
Proposal requirements
Proposals can be of any kind: creations, fiction, interviews, soundscapes, archives, etc. They will be selected on the basis of production quality and content in line with the proposed themes. A veritable sound laboratory for a night, the Ball Theatre/Radio Utopia project will give us a chance to hear how the world sounds. By world news, we mean: news of place, from the other, from the future, from the past, of fiction, from the spheres…
- Each soundtrack must be no longer than 7 minutes in length. Ideal format wav, aiff – stereo.
- Title, short introductory text (500 characters maximum) is recquired.
- Author(s), short biography (300 characters maximum per author) is required.
